Sweet family time...

I came to my sister's last week to help her with her new baby, Roran. She already has a 16-month old girl, Adaline, so her hands are really full right now. It has been such a joy to spend each day loving and caring for the babies. Roran is a really laid back little boy and it doesn't take much to please him. God has certainly blessed my sister and her husband with two absolutely beautiful children. I am so thankful that He providentially allowed me to spend these ten days with them. Here are some of my favorite moments so far...including a fun photo of the rental car I got when my connecting flight was cancelled. I had to drive from New Jersey to my sister's and told the rental company to give me the cheapest economy car they had...this is what I got!!!

Well I finally made it to my sister's house last night after a long travel day. But here are some first pics of baby Rory. He is so precious! I will post more as the week progresses.

Central Asia

I just returned from a trip to Central Asia with group from my church. It was an amazing, challenging and fulfilling two weeks! I am including a couple pictures (out of my 600)...maybe I can post more later. The Lord truly blessed our time there as we developed relationships with children and women in a poor area of the city where there is no established Christian witness. In a land dominated by the Islamic faith (99.9% of the population), I was very humbled as we worked with a family who has sacrificed all material security to go and live amongst the people in this community. They are investing their lives in the spiritual welfare of the people there, trusting the Lord to carry out a fruitful work. I praise God for their faithfulness and give Him the glory for leading us on this trip.

Babies Update

With so many little ones in my life, it seems like there is never enough time to see all they do! Daniel is adjusting to his new sister, Kiersten just started a full crawl and is even pulling herself to a standing position (with much exhertion!), and new baby Elizabeth is just sleeping peacefully and looking beautiful. They are each so sweet and have such distinct personalities. It is a real joy and blessing to take part in their lives. When God allows someone to become so deeply precious to me, there is an overwhelming feeling of desperation for them to know the things of the Lord and I pray that the God of Heaven would call them to Himself and save them eternally. I cannot imagine a life as dear as theirs, that was not centered around the cross of Christ and His atoning work! Along with that sentiment, my sister is due to deliver my new nephew in the next couple of weeks, and I am longing to see her and my niece Adaline so badly! I leave July 18th to spend two wonderful weeks fellowshipping with their family. I cannot wait to hug Addie and hold the new little one. I miss seeing all the wonderful "firsts" that she is doing, so I am looking forward to some precious time with her.

Atlanta

I just returned from a classical Christian education conference in Atlanta. We left Wednesday and got home Saturday evening. It was overwhelming, all the speakers and workshops. I learned so much that I did wrong my first year of teaching. Definitely a lot to try and implement this year. My favorite part of the conference was the fellowship with the other teachers I work with. We took a group of 17 and it was just so encouraging to get to know them better, to hear their teaching experiences, and most of all to observe the heart God has given them for classical education. The theme of the conference was: Christ the Lord of Classical Christian Education. Every speaker tied their practical educational lecture around how Christ is the center and foundation of it. As a side note, we also had a fun night at a Braves baseball game! I had a great time and it reminded me how thankful I should be for the Lord so providentially providing me with this position and the opportunity to be surrounded by such godly and wise people.

Baby Elizabeth Arrives!!!

Yesterday, one of my best friends delivered her new daughter, Elizabeth Grace Marshall. She weighed 8lbs., 3oz. and is exceptionally beautiful. Mama Amber is doing great and thankful for the safe delivery of this precious new life. I am so blessed to see such wonderful families being providentially expanded by God's abundant grace. And He is so sweet to allow me to have a part in so many children's lives. Their souls are precious in His sight, and I pray He will draw them to Himself in the days to come. What a tremendous gift to partake of!
